Olivet is a multi-million dollar corporation, which belongs to you, as members of our welfare association. It is a very special place – a home where dedicated staff offer high quality care and service and the atmosphere is one of a community helping each other. 43% of our staff are Brethren and Sisters and Olivet pays back to the Christadelphian community in wages approximately $880,000 per year. Our income is derived predominately from government sources for the high and low care areas and without this funding, these areas of care and service, which are imperative for the ongoing care of our elderly, could not survive. Our young people come to work with our elderly and there is something very special about watching a young person hold hands and guide an older person who needs care. The difference made in the everyday lives of our elderly by our volunteers is immense and appreciated by our elderly and our staff. How can you, as owners of Olivet, help ensure an on-going future for our elderly and for the other special people who also call Olivet their home? Your assistance can be in many forms, such as working bees where 3 times a year we ask for help with gardening, window cleaning and general maintenance. This assists in tidying gardens and the general appearance of our buildings inside and out. Physically working together creates bonds of fellowship which are special in our brotherhood. Volunteering your time and effort on a regular basis is also another way of helping Olivet to assist our residents and staff and Olivet will always welcome more Brethren, Sisters and young people to join our already 99 strong volunteers who may give as little as a few hours every 6 months to a few hours a week. All time given impacts on improving the quality of life for others and anyone, no matter whether you have particular skills or not, can assist us. Providing pastoral care to our residents is also an important area of help. You not only provide spiritual care but become a friend to an older person who you visit regularly. In our last government accreditation survey, one auditor spoke during their final meeting with us about the family community atmosphere which in 2 days she was able to sense very strongly and congratulated Olivet on something which she described as special and unique. This atmosphere is generated by the love and caring from our dedicated staff and volunteers. Another important way of assisting Olivet is financially through donations which can be made regularly or for a specific purpose (Olivet is deemed as a charitable organization and all donations above $2 can be claimed as tax deductible); also through your financial support of the annual subscriptions which your ecclesia pays on your behalf as a member of the welfare association; through bequeaths where you allocate Olivet as a beneficiary in your will and through interest free loans which may include depositing into a not-for-deeming account which has tax benefits.
Information sheets on donations, bequeaths and becoming a volunteer are available from your ecclesia or by contacting Olivet directly.
The relevance of Olivet to you is personal. It may be that you already have presently or have had in the past family members or friends living or working here. Whatever the connection, you as a member of the association have ownership and the benefits that come from that. Because we are a non-profit organization, these benefits are not directly financial, but any Brother or Sister that needs aged care accommodation will receive priority attention onto our waiting lists and admission as soon as possible depending on availability and need. We are forever mindful too that Olivet needs your prayers and thoughtful consideration and that our future is dependent on our Father’s good will. We at Olivet, want to thank all those who are part of our extended family and work hard to make it the special home it is. |
